Bay grew up in Milwaukee, WI and moved to Los Angeles in 2003 after graduating from the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree, majoring in Management Computer Systems.
Bay spent the next few years working in front of the camera before transitioning to producing. After producing several short films, in 2012 he co-produced his first feature Pretty Perfect starring Sarah Sutherland (Veep), and Christopher McDonald (Happy Gilmore, Boardwalk Empire). Bay partnered with Oliver Thompson to form Minutehand Pictures in 2014, producing their first feature Welcome to Happiness.
Oliver Thompson was born in Detroit in 1981 and started making films on his parents VHS camcorder at age 11. He has been working in film and video production since he was hired at age 16 as a camera operator at a municipal cable station. That soon led to a job at a production company called Kidzvid, producing educational videos. After a brief stint in film school, Oliver left, choosing instead to study his other passion, music. Receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in music composition, he returned to his love of film. He spent the next several years in Detroit working in countless projects in a range of roles such as music videos, educational programming, and short films, for which he has been awarded several times in various film festivals, including first place at the Mitten Movie Project for his music score, and second place for his directing. Thompson relocated to Los Angeles in 2012. Welcome to Happiness is his first feature.
